Experience

First and foremost I have extensive experience of working with people.

People matter: sadly too many otherwise excellent web sites and engaging photographs have proven ineffective because the client or intended audience was simply misunderstood. Much as I admire the way in which social networking technologies have revolutionised communication between people, I hold fast to the value of face to face communication. I also believe in listening.

Over the years I’ve been privileged to work with some pretty clever folks. Never too shy to ask a question, I’d like to think I’ve learned some valuable lessons along the way, which I often bring to my work.

My formal work experience is well documented elsewhere in my LinkedIn profile. Suffice to say I have been creating commercial web sites for over 10 years and taking photographs professionally for a lot longer. That said, I am keen to embrace the latest technologies (which I stress I recognise are simply a means to an end, but hey, we all like gadgets).

For you geeks out there, I’ve used every version of the Microsoft Windows Operating System since version 1.0 (yes, it was me) and Dreamweaver since version 1.0 (I learned how to design web sites the hard way and still prefer ‘code view’).

I guess I’ve clocked up the most hours with Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Photoshop. I’ve also had day-to-day responsibility for managing Microsoft servers for many years (somebody has to do it and fortunately I enjoy it).
